H/T - JSOnline So the elected representatives of the taxpayers of the State of Wisconsin pass a law that is designed to reduce the financial burden on those same taxpayers. In simplest terms, the law helps to cut the budget expenditures when the budget is in the red.If you or I have a personal budget that is running in the red then we have to cut our spending. We don't have the option to unilaterally raise our salaries. We really don't have the option to print our own money. So we cut our budget.
The state of Wisconsin can't print money, but it does have the option of increasing taxes in order to increase income. Of course, if expenditures increase at the same time and at a greater rate than increased income then any deficit will increase as well, and doing something to increase public expenditures while running a growing debt leads eventually to bankruptcy for Wisconsin (or any state in that situation) and then Uncle Sam will step in to bail the state out in exchange for something, because Uncle Sam NEVER does anything for anyone without getting something back in exchange.
So the legislators in Wisconsin pass a law that will help them lower their expenditures, thereby preventing the taxpayers from having to surrender more of their rights to Washington, D.C. when the state budget collapses under its own weight and The Feds ride to the rescue with Other Peoples Tax Money. Everything is good right? Wrong!
The opposition to this sort of common-sense approach to the budget in Wisconsin simply finds a judge who will overturn the law. A judge who has no accountability to the taxpayers whose finances that his decision, in effect, undermines.
What this is a picture of is the future of the USA unless we have accountability for judges. If we don't at least have some sort of Retention System where We The People can have the power to remove judges from office (even if it is after they set their unsavory and partisan legal precedents) then eventually, no election will matter. After all the dust settles from any election and laws are passed representing the will of the electorate, special interests will simply find a judge who is willing to do their bidding and have that judge construct the law by judicial fiat in whatever fashion that judge chooses in spite of the will of the citizens.
Dealing with this situation is crucial to the future of the USA. Doing nothing about it, living in denial, will eventually spell the end of The Constitutional Republic of the United States.
