The headline is correct. The US Constitution gives both the right and the responsibility of government to the citizens of the USA. We have the responsibility to make sure that the people we elect to represent us are following the Constitution. Over the years we have many times allowed our elected representatives, who are supposed to be serving us by giving us a voice in our central government, to violate the Constitution by making Unconstitutional laws and by appointing Judges and federal officials and employees who make policy that violates the Constitution.
If the above situation does not change, the USA will certainly cease to exist, at least in its present form of representative Constitutional government. In reality, the representative part of our government is severely compromised at the present time. The only way to revive it is to have an electorate that commits to being actively involved in government by interacting with its elected representatives on a proactive basis in constant fashion.
We need to elect representatives who see their duty of representation to include regularly meeting directly with ALL of their constitutents in their home states or districts. We need to have their numbers on speed dial, their websites on our favorites, and send postcards (which process faster) or letters through the US mail as well. Above all else, these representatives need to know the US Constitution and be dedicated to serving and representing we citizens as the Constitution mandates. We need to make these respresentatives accountable to that standard upon election, and keep them accountable to that standard at all times.
If we as citizens do not demand representation AND TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THAT REPRESENTATION, our rights that go along with this responsibility will surely be lost.
If you can make it, meet us in Washington DC on September 12th, 2009. There are many US citizens who are going to be there, actively pledging to do just what I have described above. One way to find out more information is coming in the form of a bus tour to several USA cities leading up the September 12th rendezvous in DC. Check out Tea Party Express for more information.
