Palin Power: Sarah Palin in Columbus Ohio for "Going Rogue" Book Signing

Sarah Palin did a book signing for GOING ROGUE at The Border's Books and Music store on Sawmill Road in Columbus, Ohio from 6 pm to 9 pm on November 20th, 2009.  I wasn't able to get a wristband so I could get a copy of the book autographed by Governor Palin, but I still showed up to take a few photos and videos, and to hopefully talk to some folks.  If you saw my post from earlier this week on this event, you would know that the initial plans for the event included the distribution of 1000 wristbands, each of which would entitle the holder to two (2) autographs.  I didn't find out until I arrived at the event that this policy had been changed to the distribution of 500 wristbands with the same two autograph limit per wristband.  Apparently, the organizers of the tour had found that there was not time in the three-hour signing period for Governor Palin to share the amount of time with each of 1000 individuals that she wanted to so the number of wristbands was decreased to 500 for this event and apparently for upcoming events as well.

TO THE LEFT: if Sarah Palin was only doing this to sell as many books as possible, why would she give out half the number of wristbands in order to spend twice as much time with each person who had a wristband?

(All photos can be enlarged by clicking on them, and you may copy any photos from this post)

On the way into the parking lot, I met this couple.  The lady had been in line for a wristband earlier today, and she got wristband #499 of 500. Her husband was a little shy at first but he popped out from behind the tree for this picture.   (She is the one who brought me up to date on the change in policy from 1000 wristbands to 500; the local media did not release any information regarding wristbands at all, so I was to find several people in line that did not know that wristbands were necessary for an autograph.)

After I spoke with the couple above, I shot this video, moving from the end of the line to the front of the line.  There were several hundred people in line from the end of the line to the entrance of the store, and it extended inside the store from the front door for at least 100 feet to the place where the book signing was taking place.

This is one of the few signs that I saw.  It clearly expressed the sentiments of the vast majority of those in attendance.

This small group of signs belonged to a few protestors who were there.  I asked them if they were Code Pink and one woman said "no, we're from Minnesota".

This is John Adams, who was moving down the line of people waiting to get into the store and passing out his business card, letting them know that he is a candidate for Congress in Ohio's 15th District

As I stood on the curb outside the store with my camera, several folks asked for information about the book signing.  The local Old Media had put the date, time, and place out there, but there was no information on the wristband policy available through them.  As a result, many people showed up hoping to get a book autographed who were not aware of the wristband policy which was in place. The information about the wristbands that I posted earlier this week was obtained from me calling the store and talking to someone directly.

These ladies were from Franny's Hallmark which is located right next to Border's Books.  They had a tray of goodies which were pretty yummy looking.  Capitalism is a grand thing, no?

This gentleman was set up opposite the entrance to the store.  He didn't apear to be from the Old Media, but he still had a really nice camera and was in  a prime location...
...right in front of the store entrance.

A shot of the entrance of the store.

While I was standing near the entrance to the store, I overheard a woman speaking on her cell phone to someone and apparently relating her experience of having her book signed by Sarah Palin. After she ended the call, I approached her and her daughter and asked them to share their experience briefly. They were most gracious and gave a short account of the experience.  The Mother is Kathy and the daughter is Sarah. Their description lined up with the other folks whom I spoke with; everyone said that they actually got to spend a few moments speaking with Sarah Palin in addition to getting their book signed.  It sounds like Sarah Palin has that special magnetic personality that natural leaders seem to all have.  No wonder The Left is afraid of her and is trying to smudge her image.

Here Kathy's daughter Sarah displays Governor Palin's autograph on her copy of "Going Rogue".

Here Kathy and Sarah share their experience with a gentleman who had overheard them making the video which is posted above, and they graciously shared with him as well.

After speaking with Kathy and Sarah, I took one last video of the front of the store and then headed back to my waiting vehicle, and I decided to shoot video of the line of people as I walked.  I got about halfway down the line here and met some folks from WALNUT (Workers Against Lazy Non-Producers United Together).  Their website is pretty cool so check it out.

After exchanging greetings and business cards with the folks from WALNUT I continued heading back to my vehicle, shooting video and stopping to speak with a few folks.  There were still two hours left in the book signing.  Since I didn't have a wristband and I did have my family with me, we went to a nearby Bob Evans and had a bite to eat, and then went to Krispy-Kreme afterward because the "Hot Donuts" sign was on.  At about 9:10 pm we drove back past the Border's and there was still a line from the signing area to the front entrance of the store, and the signing was supposed to end at 9 pm.  Apparently Governor Palin didn't leave until everyone in line got their book autographed.
Could be...

UPDATE  11/21/2009 11:00 am:

The Left wonders why we support Sarah Palin on The Right, why The Conservatives who remain in The Republican Party have been energized by her new book.  The Conservatives support Sarah Palin because we understand that The Left is working from within the US Government, passing laws and enacting policies that will force US Citizens to fund the destruction of their Constitution and their Country, the literal metamorphosis of the USA into a new entity.  We believe that she understands that and does stand against that and would stand strongly against it as an elected public servant, the latter of which she would be, instead of The Ruler which we currently have as POTUS.

When I was on YouTube, I noticed that there was a video posted about the folks who had camped overnight outside Border's Books in anticipation of Sarah Palin's appearance.  If you watch the video you will see that the person presented himself as someone who was sympathetic to their cause as he drew out their responses and then proceeded to attack them with insults at the end of his interview, using profanity as well, to which the interviewees responded with shock BUT without profanity like the interviewer used AND without attacking the interviewer in kind. The interviewer then paints the interviewees as unintelligent and dull, with inference being that if they are Conservative then they must be stupid.  (The video is clearly edited heavily, so I'm sure the respondents that he didn't have to wake from their sleep on the sidewalk gave him much more cogent responses, which he failed to include in his YouTube video).  If you go to the YouTube post of this video and look at the comments, you'll see commenters from The Left who laud the interviewer as "Brilliant" and "Genius" while posting further insulting comments about the interviewees, all with an angry and hate-filled tone.  All of this is typical of The Left.

Do the folks being interviewed look like the "Angry Mob" that The Left and The Old Media are painting them as?

Why is The Left so concerned about Sarah Palin that they put up so much effort to attack her?

Is it a convenient diversion to their dismantling of The Constitution?

Do they see her as a threat to their agenda for The USA?

She is currently only a book author.  They could simply just not buy her book and ignore her, but they are not doing that.  Why?

As long as Governor Palin stands against The Left, we know whose side she is on.  The constant attacks on her from The Left serve to continue to remind us that she unashamedly stands as a true Conservative, and We The People support her.

Thanks for checking out the article and for your kind comment. It is always a pleasure to do these, especially meeting the people, the "We The People" people, at these events. It is encouraging to me and I'm trying to encourage others through this blog.

Thanks Again!

Good article. To me there was a lot of excitment outside the Border Books signing. Everyone was so friendly and cordial all w/ same goal of supporting Palin. Cars had nifty Sarah Palin slogans, all the pro Palin posters. If you said hi to anyone - you were in a conversation about the state of our Country - and quite frankly about "The Change" that didn't happen w/ current administration. I will be searching for any volunteer organization I can find to help Sarah - yes get elected for President. There was a buzz around Borders and it was only a confined book signing - not a rally or speech.

That's the way I experienced it as well. It was only a book signing and she's only the author of the book in question, so why is The Establishment Left so worked up about her? Maybe because the energy she is generating is causing others to think the way you are. If she was not a threat to eventually gain the office of POTUS, then The Establishment Left would be ignoring her. If you check out my YouTube page (link on the sidebar of this blog) and some of the comments on the videos from this event, you'll see that she is not being ignored at all.
