Try this solution for Health Care Reform

The government is currently trumpeting that the "Public Option" would create competition in the healthcare insurance industry. Currently the government actively restricts competition by not allowing insurance companies to compete across state lines. This way, the government has actually created the issue which they state that a government health insurance will solve. If the government was truly serious about increased competition being a solution for the cost of health care, then they would simply remove the barriers that they themselves have created and allow insurance companies to compete on a national level, across state lines. This is the "Crisis" gameplan that Rahm Emmanuel admits is used by The Left. In this case, and in several others, the "Crisis" has been created in order to fit the solution. The "Healthcare Debate" is all about creating a smokescreen to transfer power away from the citizens and to the central government. There is no principle in the Constitution that allows for this, and the framers clearly are against this centralized power. Your health care will not be better and will be worse with any further government involvement in it. You will simply be less free and with fewer of your Constitutional Rights if the government involves itself further into the health care system.

I don't know where you got this video from, but you should probably check the facts. No offense meant, but I'd be more likely to believe a credible filmmaker like Michael Moore than some random guy on PJTV. Just for starters, the table in minute 14 on the tax rates is complete bullshit. Even if you're in the highest tax bracket, you never pay 59% of your income. Also, keep in mind that it's not the full amount that goes towards the medical system. It's true that there is a lot of waiting going on at the hospitals, especially when they're overburdened by every other hypochondriac going in for a wrist ache or a cold, which is why many people have family doctors. Which are also free.

If you want to check out what I was saying about our tax brackets, here's the Canadian government's website: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/ndvdls/fq/txrts-eng.html

In any case, if you're trying to prove that the US shouldn't have universal healthcare because of Canada, maybe you should try looking at other countries as well. Here's a list, if you'd like to take a look: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_health_care. I especially liked the comment from the US Institute of Medicine at the National Academies of Science: "Universal health care is implemented in all industrialized countries, with the exception of the United States."

Keep in mind that there are several different ways of having a public healthcare system, and one includes having both public (for the poor) and private (which helps relieve the public) healthcare systems in place.

Anyway, this wasn't to rag on you. You're entitled to your opinion, I just wouldn't base it on the video. Believe me, I'll be posting it on PJTV as a comment, too.
